Damages caps, other tort reform measures important to consider in med mal litigation, P.2

Previously, we began looking at the topic of tort reform, noting the fact that many states have passed limitations on non-economic damages. As we mentioned, Maryland has passed its own limitation on noneconomic damages in medical malpractice cases. As part of tort reform efforts, Maryland has also passed pre-filing requirements, including pre-suit arbitration.

Medical care is expensive and the costs are continually increasing, making good insurance coverage increasingly essential for patients. Why work with an experienced attorney in child custody proceedings? P.1

Previously, we began looking at the best interests of the child standard and some of the factors courts take into consideration when making child custody decisions. How do Maryland courts make child custody decisions?

Divorce is always a stressful process, to some extent. For parents with minor children, divorce can be particularly challenging, especially when it comes to making decisions about child custody. Ideally, couples are able to set aside any differences and hurt feelings they may have toward one another and work together to come up with a mutually acceptable child custody arrangement for their children. Unfortunately, this is not always possible.

Plan custody schedules for a baby very carefully

Having a new baby is a joyous occasion in many families. When you and the baby's other parent aren't in a relationship any longer, this can also be a trying time. You and the other parent might want to both build a relationship with the child. This can be a challenge because you have to figure out how to make things work.
