Police in are investigating an accident that claimed the life of a Maryland woman. The incident in question reportedly occurred during the second week of June. If the driver believed responsible is found to have been negligent in causing the crash, the victim’s surviving family members would be well within their rights to pursue a wrongful death claim.
On the morning of June 11, about an hour outside of Baltimore, a woman was struck by a school bus as she was crossing in or near a cross walk. The victim was rushed to a hospital for the treatment of critical injuries. Sadly, she died later that same day.
The driver of the bus, a 54-year-old male, reportedly hit the victim as he was attempting a left-hand turn. He did stop and wait for authorities to arrive on-scene. Thankfully, no children were on-board the bus at the time of the accident. At this time, police are still in the process of investigating this accident. They are asking any witnesses to please come forward with any information relevant to this case.
This event is truly tragic all around. In accordance with applicable state laws, the decedent’s loved ones may seek legal recourse. Wrongful death and survival actions claims may be filed in a Maryland civil court against the bus driver and the driver’s employer. If negligence can be established by appropriate evidence, a Maryland civil court may award the victim’s surviving family members financial relief for any documented financial losses caused by this incident.
