A motorcycle can be a thrilling piece of equipment to ride. Unfortunately, as fun as they may be, they are also harder to see, and motorcyclists often find themselves victims in collisions. Even with proper safety gear, motorcycle accidents often result in critical injuries to their riders. A recent accident in Maryland landed a biker in the hospital severely wounded.
A 30-year-old man was transported to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center via air ambulance with critical injuries after his motorcycle was struck by a car. The accident happened near the end of July in Davidsonville. According to police, the driver of a sedan failed to yield the right of way and collided with the motorcycle.
The driver and passenger in the car also suffered injuries in the crash and were taken to a nearby medical treatment facility for care. It is unknown if any charges are pending against anyone involved in this crash. Police have not released many details surrounding the cause of the collision.
Victims of motorcycle accidents can sometimes face a long road to recovery, which can take time and come at a significant expense. If the individual injured in this particular case chooses, he may file a personal injury claim against the driver deemed responsible for the collision. If liability is affirmed, a civil court in Maryland could award the victim financial relief to assist in covering his medical and rehabilitation expenses, as well as provide for any lost wages, pain and suffering and any other expenses deemed recoverable under state laws.
