Maryland car accident leaves 2 dead, 1 injured

Before passing another vehicle on a Maryland road, it is important to remember what the markings on the pavement mean. They are there to identify whether or not it is safe to pass another car. On a road where there are normal broken yellow lines, cars traveling in either direction may pass. When there is a solid yellow line with broken yellow lines on one side, the cars on the side with the broken yellow lines may pass, but the vehicles on the side with the solid yellow line may not. On roads with two normal solid yellow lines, cars traveling in both directions may not pass.

Obeying these laws can ensure your safety as places where solid yellow lines appear are considered unsafe places to pass other vehicles either because of limited visibility or the amount of traffic in the area.

A 25-year-old man from New Windsor caused a car accident recently when he attempted to pass another vehicle and crossed over a double yellow line. The car was traveling northbound around a curve on Buffalo Road in Mount Airy, Maryland when he apparently lost control and slammed into another vehicle traveling southbound. The 25-year-old driver of that car was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the first car was killed along with his 23-year-old passenger.

The man who was injured in this accident may wish to speak with a personal injury attorney about his right to compensation for his pain and suffering, medical expenses and damages done to his vehicle.
