Woman pleads guilty after fatal car crash

Drinking and driving is a terrible combination that can ruin the lives of many people. While some motorists may think that having a few drinks and getting behind the wheel is no big deal, the truth is that people who do not take this danger seriously are accepting an enormous risk. It takes just one moment to miss an important traffic signal or lose control of a vehicle. When reflexes are slowed by alcohol, such a mistake can cause a lethal car accident.

A 24-year old woman recently entered a guilty plea to a charge of negligent manslaughter after causing a fatal drunk driving accident. The woman lost control of her vehicle at approximately 11:45 p.m. by driving over 60 mph around a curve that had a posted speed limit of 35 mph. The vehicle crossed to the other side of the road, flew up into the air, and rolled over more than once before it finally stopped. When authorities arrived at the scene, they determined that a 25-year old male passenger had been ejected from the pick-up truck’s back window.

The man was taken to a Baltimore medical center where he later passed away. Law enforcement stated that the female driver had a blood alcohol content of .17 percent at the time of the crash which is above the legal limit of .08 percent.

The man’s family will forever grieve the loss of their loved one. In such a situation, the family may wish to explore filing a lawsuit for compensation. It can be helpful to discuss a claim with an attorney to review potential damages such as medical expenses, pain and suffering, and wrongful death.
