Elderly couple killed by drunk driver in Maryland

It has long been shown that drinking and driving in Baltimore don’t mix. Alcohol is a substance that slows down the functioning of the brain and can reduce a driver’s reaction times, concentration and vigilance. It can also impair a person’s vision and make it difficult to perform different tasks at one time that driving a vehicle requires. This is why so many people who choose to drink and drive end up causing car accidents.

A car accident that occurred recently in Hunt Valley, Maryland was caused by a drunk driver. The 22-year-old man was driving a Hyundai northbound on York Road when he went over the center line and crashed into the vehicle of an elderly Towson couple head-on. He then swerved back over into the northbound lane and hit a Dodge. The married couple, ages 85 and 84, were both killed. A 79-year-old passenger was taken to the hospital where she was listed in critical condition.

Authorities closed the road for several hours while they worked to clean up the scene and look into the cause of the accident. They are still conducting their investigation, but have charged the driver of the Hyundai and the 23-year-old driver of the Dodge with DUI. They indicated that speed was also a factor in this crash.

The family members of the elderly couple killed in this accident and the woman who was injured may wish to speak with a personal injury attorney about their case. They may be entitled to compensation for their pain and suffering, medical bills, and funeral expenses, where applicable.
